License, activation, refunds, install, troubleshooting. If your answer isn’t here, email support@printwise3d.com.

Licenses

How do I activate after purchase?

License key emails within seconds of purchase. Copy it (starts with pw3d_v1_), launch PrintWise3D, paste it on the activation screen, click Activate. No internet needed – verification is offline.

What’s the difference between Maker, Pro, and Master?

Maker ($19.99) – printer + filament databases, plain-English orientation, basic slicer table, profile export. Pro ($29.99) – adds anisotropy analysis, load painting, multi-material / MMU / IDEX planning, engineering rules dispatcher. Master ($49.99) – adds raw G-code, Klipper macros, custom rules, DB overrides, API console.

Can I upgrade tiers later?

Yes — upgrade yourself in minutes at printwise3d.com/upgrade: choose your upgrade, paste your existing license key to verify it, and your new key is emailed automatically. You only pay the difference. Prefer we handle it? Email support@printwise3d.com with your license ID.

What’s the license bound to?

Your computer. On first activation, PrintWise3D writes a small binding file that ties the key to your machine’s hardware fingerprint (Windows MachineGuid / Linux machine-id / macOS IOPlatformUUID – never transmitted). Prevents leaked keys from being activated elsewhere.

I got a new computer. How do I transfer?

Email info@printwise3d.com from the address you registered with, include your license ID (printed inside the app sidebar). Transfer key issued within one business day. You’ll get a fresh license file to activate on the new machine; the old machine is automatically retired when the new binding is written.

Why does PrintWise3D ask me to re-activate on my new computer?

Every license activation binds to the specific machine you activate on (Windows MachineGuid / Linux /etc/machine-id / macOS IOPlatformUUID). This is what stops a leaked license file from being usable elsewhere – your license key file alone isn’t enough to activate; the binding on disk has to match the current machine.

If you move to a new computer, replace the motherboard, or restore from a backup onto different hardware, the binding won’t match and you’ll see a transfer-request screen instead of the normal app. That screen tells you exactly what to do: email info@printwise3d.com from your registered address. We send a fresh license file (signed for your new machine) within one business day.

If you’re reinstalling on the same computer and seeing this anyway, click Deactivate / change key in the sidebar to clear the stale binding, then paste your key again.

Refunds

What’s the refund policy?

30 days, full refund, no questions. Email support@printwise3d.com with your order ID. Refund processes within 3-5 business days back to your original payment method.

Install

Windows shows a SmartScreen warning when I run the installer.

Our Windows installer is digitally signed by PBD Products LLC, so you will see our verified publisher name rather than an “unknown publisher” warning. On a brand-new release, Windows SmartScreen may still show a one-time prompt until that version builds reputation.

If you see it: click More info (small grey link, easy to miss), then Run anyway. Windows remembers the choice and will not ask again on this machine.

How do I install on Linux?

Download the package for your distribution and install it. Debian / Ubuntu (.deb): sudo apt install ./PrintWise3D_*_amd64.deb (or double-click it in your software center). Fedora / RHEL / openSUSE (.rpm): sudo dnf install ./PrintWise3D-*.x86_64.rpm (or sudo rpm -i). Then launch PrintWise3D from your applications menu.

System requirements?

Modest. Windows 10/11 x64, or Ubuntu 22.04+ / Fedora 38+ (any glibc 2.31+ Linux). 4 GB RAM, 1 GB disk. macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon.

Features

What file formats does PrintWise3D accept?

STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP. If a STEP file errors, convert it to STL upstream in your CAD tool.

Does it support multi-material printers?

Pro and Master tiers – AMS, MMU3, IDEX, toolchangers. Full compatibility matrix, purge-tower planner, interface-layer planner. Maker tier is single-extruder workflows.

How often does the database update?

Every few weeks. Updates are signed, free, manual. Click Check for updates in the sidebar when you want them.

Does PrintWise3D phone home?

No. Zero network calls at runtime. The “Check for updates” button is a one-way HTTPS GET to a public file. No telemetry.
